Arsenal Transfers: 5 Blockbuster Signings To Compete In Champions League

1. Michu

Finally, Arsenal are going to need at least one new striker if they are to compete seriously in this season's Champions League. Marouane Chamakh has been allowed to leave and new signing Yaya Sanogo is yet to prove himself, especially at European level. Meanwhile, Lukas Podolski could be out until the end of September after being stretchered off in last night's win over Fenerbahce with a hamstring injury. It is fair to say then that Wenger needs to beef up his forward line. The likes of David Villa, Stevan Jovetic, Gonzalo Higuain and Edinson Cavani may have all gone elsewhere but that's not to say Wenger can't still bring in a quality forward this summer. Swansea City's Michu would be a superb signing, considering the form the Spain international enjoyed last season, scoring 18 Premier League goals and firing the Swans to Capital One Cup glory. Capable of playing as a striker or attacking midfielder, Michu would provide Wenger with a wealth of attacking options as well as a more-than able partner for Oliver Giroud. How do you think Arsenal will fare in the Champions League? Who does Arsene Wenger need to sign to help them compete with the elite? Let us know in the comment section.
