3. Kurt Zouma
Arsenal have only three recognized central defenders in their current first team squad, and lost Laurent Koscielny to
a knee injury during the 6-3 defeat at Manchester City. He will be out for a while. Saint-Etienne powerhouse Zouma, 19, would ensure Wenger has this key area of his squad covered. Gunners scout
Giles Grimandi has given the centre half rave reviews in reports fed back to the boss. Highly-rated and athletic youngster Zouma is currently halfway through a ten-match ban picked up when
a tackle he made broke an opponent's leg. This suspension is unlikely to dampen interest in him, and Arsenal do not have a clear run to secure his services anyway. Fellow Premier League heavyweights Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are keeping tabs on Zouma, who received his first senior call-up to the France national squad this autumn. His current valuation is believed to be
in the region of £13 million, but a bidding war could ensue and see him goling for a more handsome fee. Koscielny's injury may now force the issue. Wenger has used Sagna as an emergency centre back on occasion this term, but square pegs in round holes could well damage the Gunners' title credentials.
