Arsenal Transfers: 5 French Players The Gunners Might Get In January

2. Paul Pogba

Few footballers in modern times have turned out for both Manchester United and the Gunners, but a report on Caught Offside this week linked Juventus midfielder Pogba with a January move back to the Premier League with Arsenal. It has been a breakthrough year for the 20-year-old midfielder. Pogba has received recognition of his talents by winning the prestigious Golden Boy award for the best youngster in Europe. He was also shortlisted for the French footballer of the year gong, though lost out Bayern Munich's treble-winning winger and Ballon d'Or nominee Franck Ribery. These accolades and achievements indicate that Pogba's development has continued apace in Italy. Perhaps David Moyes wishes Red Devils predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson had not sold the player to Juve, but now it is the Old Lady that may face a struggle to keep hold of him. Juventus suffered a terminal Champions League defeat in the final group stage game against Galatasaray amid appalling conditions in Istanbul. With his current club out of Europe's elite competition and being pressed hard domestically in Serie A for the first time in three seasons, Pogba might fancy a January transfer. Should Wenger set out to get this promising player it will not come cheap. Juve do not want to sell a star performer €“ even if they have been knocked down into the Europa League. Pogba has drawn comparisons with legendary Gunners captain Patrick Vieira and some similar steel would be welcome.
