Arsenal Transfers: 5 January Signings Arsene Wenger Needs To Win Title
2. Demba Ba
Arsenal have struggled with injuries up front this season with Oliver Giroud finding himself overworked during the continued absences of Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski. Both have returned from respective spells on the sidelines but that doesn't detract from Arsenal's need to buy in at least one new forward in January. Luckily for the Gunners, Giroud was able to stay in form and score crucial goals while he was the side's only fit senior striker, but should injuries rob Arsene Wenger's men of forwards again, there is no guarantee of the same outcome, which could be crucial - particularly in the New Year when defeats start to become really costly. For these reasons, Wenger should think about making a bid for Demba Ba, who wouldn't mind being used in rotation with Giroud or as back-up to compensate for injury. Arsenal tried to land the ex-Newcastle hitman on loan over the summer before Jose Mourinho pulled the plug on the deal, but the Gunners should try again to sign the Senegalese striker, who would be an ideal acquisition given the lack of a transfer fee. A move could be more realistic in January considering Ba seems more dispensable to the Blues in that he has only started two league games all season.
