The Gunners have been chasing the Real Madrid man all summer and the deal is at long last
teetering on completion. In a move that would shatter Arsenal's club-transfer-record, Higuain could arrive at the Emirates in a deal worth a staggering £50 million. The 25-year-old has agreed a four-year contract, according to reports, which inclusive of bonuses is worth up to £150,000-per-week. This is evidence of a real shift in Arsenal's original transfer policy of not spending stacks of cash on proven goal-scorers and instead moving for lesser known stars, and it's a shift that simply had to be made. The Argentinian scored 16 La Liga goals last season in 28 appearances and also netted 19 overall goals across 44 appearances in the Champions League and other competitions. He's scored 117 goals for Real since his arrival from River Plate in 2006 and only Lionel Messi of Barcelona and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo have been more prolific in that time.
