Arsenal Transfers: 5 Short-Term Replacements For Injured Lukas Podolski

3. Demba Ba

Demba Ba Could Arsenal renew their interest in Demba Ba? Along with Liverpool, the Gunners were on the trail of the Senegal star in January last year with Arsene Wenger showing a serious interest in the striker. In the months that followed, Ba left Newcastle for Chelsea but his time in West London has been unsuccessful and the former Magpies ace faces the chop. Old club Newcastle are being linked with re-signing the 28-year-old on loan while that could also be an attractive option for Arsenal, who need a striker on a short-term basis. Ba's future at Stamford Bridge has been thrown into the air with the arrival today of Samuel Eto'o from Anzhi while Fernando Torres and new-signing Andre Schurrle are also above him in Jose Mourinho's pecking order. And that could lead to Wenger making a shock bid before next Monday's deadline day cut-off. Ba was Newcastle's joint-highest goalscorer last season with 13 strikes despite only playing for half of the North East outfit's campaign.
