Arsenal Transfers: 6 Failed Deals Wenger Should Revive In Summer

5. Jackson Martinez

Porto's Columbian striker has forced himself onto Arsenal's radar for his impressive goal scoring talents. Martinez has racked up an incredible 33 goals in 43 games last year, which explained Arsenal's initial interest. As an already established out-and-out goal scorer, Martinez began this season by netting 13 goals in 17 appearances, welcoming interest again from Arsenal and their Premier League neighbours Chelsea. The striker who is well known for his goal scoring ability would cost the Gunners an estimated £34 million if they were to pursue him in the summer, a price that has proved to be too much in the past. Martinez would be a much-welcomed addition to Arsenal's strike force, taking the pressure off of lone striker Olivier Giroud. The Columbian hit man would complement Giroud nicely as they are both real threats when going forward, can hold the ball up nicely, and have a proven track record when it comes to goal scoring. Signing Martinez as a partner for Giroud could lead to the Frenchmen feeling the pressure and friendly competition to score goals, something he does not have at the moment. This may in turn boost Giroud's striking abilities while providing Arsenal with another prolific striker to add to their roster.
