Arsenal Transfers: 6 Failed Deals Wenger Should Revive In Summer

3. Diego Costa

Costa has been the envy of a number of football's biggest clubs in recent months, with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich all trying to take the 25-year old striker away from Athletico Madrid. At an immense six-foot-two Costa has created a reputation for scoring sublime individual and team goals. Costa fits in nicely at the top of an attacking pyramid with Athletico Madrid's slow build-up play, which makes him the ideal candidate to replace or work alongside Giroud. Having scored 25 goals in 29 appearances this season Arsenal were beyond interested in Diego Costa in January. However, as always the January transfer market did not allow for any further negotiations, as Athletico Madrid looked to keep a prized asset to aid with their title race. Nevertheless, Arsenal is reportedly looking to bid up to £30 million for the prolific striker's services in the summer. Costa would provide the likes of Ramsey, Wilshere, Ozil with another target to hit, as he provides an alluring and daunting striking presence. Arsenal would also benefit from the striker's intense desire to win the ball back, something that would go side by side with Wilshere's relentless work ethic, and allow Arsenal to drive forward quicker, and win the ball back faster.
