Arsenal Transfers Failure: 10 Deals Wenger Should Have Completed

8. Mirko Vucinic

The Juventus man was on his way out. A exchange deal with Inter Milan for Guarin fell through, leaving the striker stuck in a nightmare as he trained away from the first team. Arsenal needed a striker, Vucinic needed a new club. Simple, right? Apparently not. Arsenal never even got close as they were reluctant to make a proposition. Here they had a chance to bolster there attack by pinching a striker from one of the best sides in Europe. Juventus made it clear they would sell and were probably waiting by the phone that never rang. It's another deal that's baffling. Wenger could have got his man early on and avoid the transfer scramble on January 31st. What exactly was he waiting for? Did he expect a big name striker to just appear at London Colney? Whilst not the best, Vucinic can score goals and he's a better option than Bendtner- who he incidentally played with in Turin last year. See, he even had friends already at the club. He would have been right at home.
