The French midfielder is another player who is repeatedly linked with Arsenal and it was no different this window, with news of the clubs pursuit emerging in the
final week of the window. With Wenger being a long-term admirer of the Lyon man and Arsenal in need of support in midfield it made sense for this deal to be pushed through. At 27 he still has a few years ahead of him and would offer more than Kallstrom- the man they did manage to get. Lyon are also in financial trouble so despite stating no one was for sale they surely would have accepted for the right bid. Arsenal have the money, the attraction and the charm. It could have happened. While he's not better than the regular first team players at the club he would have been the ideal signing to erase the injury crisis currently surrounding Arsenals midfield. Alas, he stayed put.
