Arsenal vs Spurs: 5 Key Battles That Will Decide North London Derby

2. Walcott vs Vertonghen

Arsenal€™s form player at the moment, Theo Walcott will be raring to go against the Gunners€™ rivals after his brace in the corresponding fixture last season. He will come up against one of Tottenham€™s new summer signings, Jan Vertonghen, who was linked with Arsenal for a long time before swapping Amsterdam for White Hart Lane. Walcott has really proven himself to be a serious asset over the past few games, scoring a hat-trick against Reading, and a Champions League goal against Schalke. His unrivalled speed will cause constant concern to Tottenham, and it€™s up to their Belgian left back to muffle his attacking forays as much as possible. Vertonghen himself has made a statement so far in the Premier League, scoring a couple of goals and showing himself to be a great athlete and defender. Verdict: You just cannot choose between these two players, Walcott€™s sheer pace versus Vertonghen€™s physical presence and defensive pedigree, an even match.
