Newcastle United campaign group AshleyOut.com have announced the details for another protest to be held after the West Ham game on Sunday, which is live on Sky Sports. The group, who were the driving forced behind #BoycottSpurs last month which saw St James' Park almost half empty for the Tottenham Hotspur game, plan to keep as many supporters as possible in the ground after the final whistle and any 'lap of (dis)honour that may take place. This, they hope, will get the message across on the global platform that Sky brings and be the final act that will see the removal of Mike Ashley as owner of Newcastle United Football Club. In a strongly worded and passionate mission statement posted on their website, the group said:
"Whatever the result of the game and the outcome of the battle against relegation, during and following any lap of honour that might or might not take place, we will continue to occupy the ground after the final whistle and we urge all Newcastle United supporters to join us in this form of protest, which has been cleared with Northumbria Police. "Bring your flags, bring your banners and most importantly bring your voices. Together we will make it clear that enough is enough and demand on the worldwide platform that is Sky Sports that the man ultimately responsible for the clubs demise into mediocrity, Mike Ashley himself, puts the club up for sale with immediate effect to a worthy custodian of such a fine football club, which is how he said he judged potential takeover parties when he first took the club off the market in 2008."
AshleyOut.com also made it clear that they would not be planning to hold any protests during the game as not to affect the final result. A final result that could see Newcastle relegated after a catastrophic five months under 'Sir Bobby Robson's former assistant manager'. Should Newcastle lose and Hull City pull off what would still be an unlikely win at home to Manchester United, the black and whites will be playing Championship football next season. Sunderland, who currently sit three points above The Tigers and one ahead of Newcastle, could still be dragged back down into the drop zone if either side pick up a win and they lose both their remaining games against Arsenal and Chelsea. Carver made a plea to The Magpies fans to get behind the team this weekend after the humiliating 2-1 defeat at the hands of already relegated Queens Park Rangers, saying: "I want the same atmosphere as against West Bromwich Albion a fortnight ago because it could be the fans who get us across the line and keep us in the Premier League. They were in full voice against West Brom and it made a difference." It certainly looks like he's going to get more than he bargained for.
