1. Christian Benteke Has Struggled For Consistent Form
There is no doubt that Christian Benteke was a big reason why Villa were able to avoid the drop last season; he scored 19 of the clubs 47 league goals last season, meaning that he contributed 40% of the goals Villa scored. Its worth keeping the mind that was the highest contribution of any Premier League striker. A lot went on during the summer, most people were of the opinion that the Belgium striker would seek a move to pastures new with his stock at its highest. However, that speculation came to an end when the striker agreed a new four-year deal; it was seen as a dramatic change after the player had previously handed in a transfer request. Therefore, Villa fans would have been hoping for another big season from him, but one of the reasons that the club have struggled is due to his inconsistent form. The striker has put in decent enough performances, but has only been able to score seven league goals this season. Also, he has had very little support in terms of other players scoring. Fans will certainly be hoping that he can score some more, ore relegation could still be on the cards.
