5. Jermain Defoe
Last month, Aston Villa
denied reports they were planning a swap deal with Tottenham that would see Christian Benteke head to White Hart Lane and Jermain Defoe head the other way. However, now that Benteke has made his stance crystal clear and is demanding a move, a swap deal wouldn't actually be a bad idea. Considering Defoe is now 30, a transfer fee would of course have to be included as part of the deal and it could work in both club's favour. In spite of his advancing age, Defoe netted 11 Premier League goals last season and 15 in 43 overall outings to finish as the second-highest goalscorer for the Lilywhites. Villa were
strongly linked with a move for Defoe last summer until manager Paul Lambert abandoned his pursuit, but the Scottish manager could have his pick of him now if it means Benteke heading to White Hart Lane.
