3. Troy Deeney
Watford star Troy Deeney
is another Villa target this summer following his impressive season for Championship outfit Watford last term. The 25-year-old fired The Hornets into the Championship Play-Off Final with one of the most spectacular counter-attacking goals you're ever likely to see in English football. Deep into injury time in the semi-final against Leicester, Manuel Almunia saved a penalty that would surely have knocked his side out, punted the ball downfield to Deeney, who lashed home the winning goal to set up a Wembley final with Crystal Palace - which they lost. Still, it was a memorable end to the campaign for Deeney, whose 19 Championship goals helped Watford's push for the Premier League. And the striker, who joined Villa as a kid but was later released, could find himself in the topflight this summer after all despite his cup final heartbreak. Deeney has been locked in negotiations with Watford over a new contract but has yet to agree terms at Vicarage Road and could end up at Villa Park instead, if Paul Lambert gets his way.
