Ballon d'Or: 5 Players That Would Have Won If Messi And Ronaldo Didn't Exist
2. Luis Suarez - Liverpool
Uruguay international Luis Suarez was named Barclays Premier League player of the month this week after setting a new record of 10 goals in a calendar month in December. He is of course the Premier League top scorer too, which is incredible considering he has played only 15 league matches as he had to serve the remaining half of a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in April. Despite being a world class player, Suarez has never really been considered for this award, but in recent months he has been compared to the likes of Messi and Ronaldo so no doubt next November he will be well into the running for that third place (presuming Ronaldo and Messi don't see a dramatic drop in form) He has never been the most liked player on the planet, particularly in the Premier League for more than just the biting incident, but almost every football fan has took their hat off the this player since his return from suspension and rightly so. And if he is hands down the best player in the so called best league in the world, surely he deserves a chance at the award.
