Barcelona Transfers: 5 Players They Must Sign

4. Benjamin Henrichs (Monaco)

The 2018/19 campaign may have been one to forget for AS Monaco, but one of the few bright sparks of an awful season was German full-back Benjamin Henrichs.

Having arrived from Bayer Leverkusen for £18 million last summer, the young Germany international is one of only a handful of players who can hold their head high after a campaign that so nearly ended in relegation for Monaco - the Principality side finishing just one place and two points above the relegation zone.

Still only 22 years of age, not only would Henrichs bring youthful energy to an ageing Barcelona team, but he also offers a huge amount of versatility. Despite right-back being his preferred position, the German - who is equally as good with his left foot as he is with his right - has spent plenty of time playing at left-back, on either wing, as a defensive midfielder, and even as a number 10 for a spell.

With Nelson Samedo keen to depart Camp Nou, the 2019/20 season could see Barcelona having only young Moussa Wague and midfielder Sergi Roberto as their right-back options. Somebody like Benjamin Henrichs would be a great acquisition that would provide competition in a slew of different positions for Ernesto Valverde.
