Bayer Leverkusen vs Man Utd - How Red Devils Should Line Up
Attacking Midfield - Wayne Rooney
Wayne Rooney has enjoyed a much-improved season so far under David Moyes, putting the problems he endured last term well and truly behind him with some excellent performances. At times, he has been the heart and soul of United, dragging them along while Robin van Persie has been out with his groin injury, but with the return of the Dutchman against Leverkusen, I expect him to drop into an offensive midfield role. Rooney played in the middle of the park a lot last season to varying degrees of success and while I still feel he operates best as a striker, he is still effective in attacking midfield behind van Persie. United's midfield has lacked energy and commitment at times this season and that is exactly what Rooney lends it when he is not playing in his favoured role up front.
