Best English Spurs XI Of The Premier League Era

3. Right Wing: Darren Anderton

"Sicknote" - as Spurs fans affectionately knew him, due to his terrible injury record" - is still one of Tottenham€™s very best performers of the Premier League era, having been at the club for over a decade, throughout the whole of the 1990€s and going in to the the early 2000€s.

Anderton made well over 300 appearances for the Lilywhites, scored more than 50 goals for the club from midfield and became a regular fixture in the England set-up in that time. He earned 30 caps and scored seven international goals.

He won the 1999 League Cup with Spurs and was a losing finalist in the same competition three years later against Blackburn Rovers. In his time at Spurs, he regularly attracted interest from Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United and drew comparisons with United and England legend David Beckham, which really does emphasise just how good a player he was.
