Best English Spurs XI Of The Premier League Era

2. Striker: Teddy Sheringham

Not only is Teddy Sheringham one of the best English players Spurs have had in the Premier League era, he's also one of the best players Spurs have ever had, full stop, and one of the best players England have had in recent years. Sheringham was great for Spurs from the moment he first arrived, having been signed from Nottingham Forest in 1992. He was also Spurs€™ top scorer in a further four seasons over the following ten years.

Never particularly quick or mobile, Sheringham had an outstanding footballing brain - and that gave him an extra yard in any given situation. He could hold the ball up, find the right pass and score great goals in equal measure and he was generally a joy to watch.

He formed formidable strike partnerships with players like Jurgen Klinsmann, Chris Armstrong and Robbie Keane and he made nearly 250 league appearances for Spurs in his two spells with the club. Although he didn't win a trophy at White Hart Lane, he was a losing finalist for Spurs in the 2-1 defeat to Blackburn in the 2001 League Cup.

The ninth highest Premier League goalscorer of all time with 147 goals, Sheringham scored 98 league goals with Spurs and he is the club's ninth highest scorer of all time, having scored 124 goals in all competitions for the Lilywhites.
