Best Uncapped Spurs XI Of The Premier League Era

3. Attacking Midfield: Stephane Dalmat

Spurs signed the very promising Stephane Dalmat on loan in 2003 when he was 24 years old. He had previously played for European giants Marseille, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan. He was a versatile player who could play anywhere across the midfield and use either foot as well as the other one, but his fantastic dribbling skills usually saw him employed as a winger or an attacking midfielder. He became a fan-favourite quickly at White Hart Lane, after a series of dynamic performances, and he played 22 times in the Premier League - ten of which were from the bench - and scored three times. He did not, however, win over David Pleat - who was caretaker boss at Spurs at the time - and he went back to Inter Milan, where he was loaned out to Toulouse in his homeland of France, then sold to Racing Santander in Spain, before becoming a journeyman around France. His potential was epic but his development seemed to stall. However, he was once touted as one of the best young players in Europe and he performed well enough at White Hart Lane to at least get some international attention.
