Brendan Rodgers To Be Confirmed As Liverpool Manager

A deal is said to have been agreed between Liverpool and Rodgers with only compensation talks with his current club Swansea to be concluded.

BBC reports that Brendan Rodgers is expected to be confirmed as the new manager of Liverpool within the next 48 hours. A deal is said to have been agreed between Liverpool and Rodgers with only compensation talks with his current club Swansea to be concluded. Talks are currently ongoing regarding a financial compensation package said to be worth between £4 and £5 million for the 39-year-old. The Anfield club previously announced that their new manager would be installed by Friday and Rodgers now looks to be the man they have chosen. As we first reported two weeks ago now, Kop legend Kenny Dalglish was axed by American owners Fenway Sports Group after a hugely disappointing league campaign that saw the Reds finish behind local rivals Everton and way off the fourth Champions League spot they had spent millions in search of securing. A League Cup trophy and a runners-up FA Cup medal did not save Kenny from the axe but despite the history of the club, Liverpool initially struggled to appointment his successor and Rodgers had turned down the chance to talk to the club about the position initially. The appointment of Wigan manager Roberto Martinez looked close as of a few days ago and he was spotted speaking to principal Liverpool owner John W Henry in Miami last week but after rampant speculation that Rodgers had been offered the job, official confirmation now looks certain on Friday. P.S. - Liverpool are to launch their new home kit on Friday. I think we all know exactly what image the Liverpool club are planning for the media blitz.
