Aside from a couple of sloppy, wayward passes, Tottenham's defence was assured and comfortable against Cardiff City - and it was by no means definitely their best quartet on the pitch either. With first choice left back Danny Rose forced to miss the match through injury, Younes Kaboul still not at 100% match fitness and Vlad Chiriches still to make his debut, it remains to be seen which back four is Spurs' strongest - but this certainly wasn't it. After five Premier League games, Spurs have now conceded only one goal (the only goal they've conceded in eight competitive matches in total this season) and have the best defensive record in the competition. That is, undeniably, title-challenging defensive form. If they can increase the number of goals they score, Spurs could really be up there at the top of the table come the end of this season.
