Cardiff City: 5 Craziest Things Vincent Tan Has Done

2. Lucky 8

The January transfer window is a time for teams to evaluate their positioning at the halfway point of the season and identify areas that they need to improve to become successful in their individual battles. At the top and the bottom of the table, the transfer window is vital for providing that push to get your team over the finish line. As Cardiff struggle at the wrong end of the table there is no doubt that signings need to be made. Will Tan look at statistics and capture a key player from a rival club, or give a player in the lower tier a chance to make the jump? Er, no. He's looking for that lucky number 8. Shortly after the booing incident, Cardiff owner Vincent Tan is alleged to have asked Cardiff to sign players with the number 8 in their birthday. The number 8 is considered lucky in Malaysia and Tan seems to have quite a liking to it. However, the choice to sign a player simply because of their birthdate is utterly ridiculous. Although highly amusing for the rest of us, you have to feel for Cardiff fans that may see a vital acquisition ruled out because he wasn't born on the right day. If you were born on the 8th August 1988, I'd get down to Cardiff as soon as possible. This may be your chance.
