Celtic recorded a comfortable victory at Parkhead as they dominated the visitors in the second half with a Gary Hooper inspired performance. The English striker got two goals and two assists for Scott Brown and James Forrest as Celtic ran out 4-0 winners. County went into the match in poor form as they hadnt won in their last six SPL outings. Their last victory came on 3 November against Aberdeen. Celtic, on the other hand, were in excellent form having won their last four league matches. Despite the large score line County played quite well throughout the match and had their finishing been more clinical could have troubled the home side. Celtic lined up in a 4-3-3 with Victor Wanyama sitting in behind the two central midfielders and Gary Hooper playing in a false number 9 role behind the two wide-forwards. Celtic made two changes to the side that beat St. Mirren 2-0 last week. Mikael Lustig dropped out for Emilio Izaguirre and Lassad Nouioui came in for Adam Matthews. Fraser Forster (GK) - 7 Only had one real save to make. But did brilliantly to keep out Alex Cooper from when he was through on goal. Efe Ambrose (RB) - 7 Showed real energy and strength at right-back. Defended well and was also skilful going forward. Kelvin Wilson (CB) - 5 Defended reasonably well throughout the match but let the ball bounce on one occasion which nearly cost his side a goal. Charlie Mulgrew (CB) - 6 Like Wilson, was at fault for allowing Alex Cooper in to nearly score. However, his deliveries at set-pieces were good and set-up one of the goals. Emilio Izaguirre (LB) - 7 Got up and down the wing really well and put some quality balls into the box. Wasnt his best game defensively. Victor Wanyama (DM) - 7 Looked strong sitting in front of the back four but others do most of the attacking. Scott Brown (CM) - 8 Looked energetic all match and closed down the County midfielders well. Made a clever run for his goal and took it well. Beram Kayal (CM) - 6 Played well, showing his usual drive and aggression. However, his final balls didnt create much and he took more poor shots from outside the box than he should have. Off 58. Gary Hooper (ST) - 9 Not known for his headers but scored two. Also set up both the other goals. His play in between the County defence and midfield caused them huge problems. Lassad Nouioui (RW) 6 Didnt look quite suited to the wide-forward role. Missed several chances and his crossing was inconsistent. However, his ball for Hoopers second was good. Off 72 Georgios Samaras (LW) 6 Caused the County defence a lot of problems with his powerful, direct running. Also worked hard in defence. However, failed to really create much going forward. Off 81. Subs: John Herron (CM) - 6 On 81. Made his debut but didnt have much time on the ball. James Forrest (RM) 7 Looked very lively in his comeback and his goal was a very good individual effort. On 58. Tony Watt (ST) 6 On 72. Showed his usual drive but Celtic didnt look like creating many chances after going 4-0 up. County played a 4-5-1 formation with two changes to the side that drew to bottom club Dundee last week. Mihael Kovacevic returned to replace Ross Tokely. Mark Fotheringham was also replaced by Rocco Quinn in midfield. Michael Fraser (GK) - 7 Made a number of good saves throughout the match. Couldnt really do much about any of the goals. Mihael Kovacevic (RB) - 6 Defended solidly against the difficult duo of Izaguirre and Samaras. Had several good runs forward as well. Scott Boyd (CB) - 5 Didnt do too much wrong. However, one misjudged clearance in the first-half nearly cost his team the opening goal. Grant Munro (CB) - 6 Defended well and couldnt really be blamed for any of the goals. Marc Fitzpatrick (LB) - 4 Let Scott Brown run in behind him for the opener and was then skinned by James Forrest for the fourth. Rocco Quinn (RM) - 6 Looked solid both defensively and offensively and with better finishing could have had a goal or two. A decent performance from the ex-Celtic man. Off 73. Stuart Kettlewell (CM) - 6 Was more defensive than his midfield partners and did a good job. Didnt contribute much going forward though. Off 88. Richard Brittain (CM) - 7 Looked solid on the ball and off it. Was at the heart of a lot of Countys best moves, either by making the key pass in a counter-attack or dictating the tempo of their passing play. Ian Vigurs (CM) - 5 Was caught in possession a number of times by the Celtic midfield and his long-range shooting wasnt nearly as good as it can be. Alex Cooper (LM) - 5 Didnt have a brilliant game. He could have worked harder in defence and didnt offer much going forward. Had Countys best chance of the match when played through on goal but hit his shot straight to close to Forster. Off 55. Colin McMenamin (ST) - 6 His hold-up play was very good but didnt have many chances himself as his main role in the team was lay the ball off to the midfielders. Subs: Mark Corcoran (LM) 7 Showed a lot more skill and pace going forward than Cooper and had one excellent cross that Quinn should have turned in. On 55. Gary Glen (ST) 6 On 88. Barely got a touch of the ball. Paul Lawson (CM) 6 On 73. Didnt offer much different to Quinn. Lassad had the first chance of the match after only a few minutes but his weak header from Izagurires cross was straight at Fraser. Samaras then passed a free-kick low to Mulgrew who took a first time shot but that was also straight at the keeper. After 13 minutes Samaras did well to win the ball on the by-line ahead of Boyd and he pulled it back to Izaguirre whose cross in was met by Hooper. His powerful header was well held by Fraser, though. Five minutes later Quinn was played through by Britain and hit a powerful 25 yard drive narrowly over the bar. After 36 minutes there was a mix up in County box as a hopeful Izaguirre ball in was scuffed by Boyd. Lassad knocked the rebound onto Hooper but his shot deflected off Munro for a corner After 41 minutes Celtic had a break as Hooper got the ball in his own half and ran at the County defence. He gave the ball to Lassad whose cross was poor but cleared only to Kayal on the edge of the box. But he hit his shot wide of the shot. County then immediately hit back as Wilson let the ball bounce from the resulting goal kick. The ball was then played through to Quinn but his shot was just wide. In injury time County then nearly got in as Celtics defence went to sleep and Cooper was played through for a one-on-one with Forster. But the big English keeper came out on top and knocked the ball out for a corner. At half-time the match had been fairly even. Celtic maybe just edged it but both sides had chances and could have been in front. Only a few minutes after the break Hooper dropped off the County defence and played Brown in behind Fitzpatrick. The Celtic captain ran into the box hit his shot past the keeper to make it 1-0. After 53 minutes a good passing move by Celtic found Lassad on the left wing who curled a ball into the box which Hooper guided past Fraser with his head. Mulgrews 63rd minute corner was later nodded in by Hooper after a scramble in the box. County then have an excellent spell of possession leading up to a chance in the 68th minute. Corcoran put a pinpoint ball into the box which found Quinn but he messed up his left-footed volley. Two minutes later Hooper plays a ball through to Forrest who ran down the wing and the cut into the box. He had an opportunity to pass to Lassad but kept going and scored past the keeper with a left footed shot. Celtic had a late chance as Ambrose pulled the ball back to Hooper from the right-wing. He just managed to squeeze a shot away but Fraser got down well to hold it on the line. Countys run without a win extends to seven matches and they slip to 11th place in the table; two points below St. Mirren and six above Dundee who have a game in hand. Dundee are favourites to go down but may have more money to strengthen in January than most teams and County are definitely not safe from the drop. Celtic, on the other hand, have now won five matches in a row and are five points ahead with a game in hand of Motherwell. They will look to continue this form and have the league title almost won by the time Juventus come to play them in February.
