Celtic Transfers: 10 Signings To Rebuild The Champions

9. Ciaran Clark - LOAN

Current Club: Aston Villa If Villa can keep hold of highly rated centre-back Ron Vlaar until the end of the transfer window, they will have done very well, but will go into the first half of the season with five centre-backs, three of which at least will be ahead of Ciaran Clark. The 24-year-old Republic Of Ireland centre-back will find his first team time limited with Vlaar, Senderos and Okore ahead of him, and it would be better for both the team and the player if he's out playing first team football rather than sitting on the bench, particularly as Nathan Baker can fill in as the fourth choice. Given the opportunity to play in the SPL every week, and indeed in Europe would be good for Clark's development, and his experience in the Premier League would make him an immediate challenger for a first-team spot in Celtic's side. If Virgil Van Dijk is set to leave, his signing would be even more valuable.
