Perhaps the most exciting aspect of Stefan Johansen is his age - Stromsgodset have just sold Celtic their key to success in their championship league campaign, and he is only 23. That £2 million estimated cost starts to look like a bargain when his age is considered along with all these promising skills he possesses, and that is what the Celtic signing policy is all about - buying young and cheap, and selling big when they reach their prime. Before I get even more carried away with this exciting player, it's important to note that Johansen is, without doubt, unproven. He's just achieved his first move to a club outside his native country, and before he can even think about excelling, he has a lot to adjust to. Not least, he has to get used to the physical nature of Scottish defences, as well as the heightened speed. I'm not saying that the Norwegian Tippeligaen is inferior to the Scottish league (when you put Celtic aside, it's probably on par), but the Scottish style of play is something that even world class players have trouble playing with and against. Celtic's recent signing policy has proven to work on trial and error - praying on promising talent in smaller European leagues has resulted in 'hits' and 'misses' - and while the 'hits' have done wonders on the pitch as well as financially, there are a worrying amount of 'misses' on the list which have cost Celtic too much money. Let's hope Stefan Johansen is a hit, rather than a miss. Celtic fans, what do you think of this signing? Are you excited by him, or do you refuse to comment until he's kicked a ball for your side? As a recent university graduate and a huge supporter of Celtic FC, what better way to use my inevitable free time to write about my favourite football team? I'll cover most things that the supporters are talking about at the moment, which includes things that directly and indirectly involve the club. At times I may also stray into matters concerning English clubs.
