Champions League: Ranking 8 Remaining Teams' Chances Of Victory

8. Borussia Dortmund

It's hard to put one of last year's finalists all the way down at number 8, but then again the once brilliant Borussia Dortmund simply don't look like the same team they did just one year ago. This is quite surprising as Dortmund last season were a thriving underdog in Europe and seemed on par, and maybe even better than rivals Bayern Munich. They even convincingly knocked out powerhouse Real Madrid on their way to the Champions League final, where they were rather unlucky to be beaten 2-1. However with the surprise factor long gone, the departure of Mario Gotze, key injuries to Ilkay Gundogan and Lars Bender and the suspension of Robert Lewandovski for the upcoming match, Dortmund are in dire straits when compared to last season. This only leaves Marco Reus from the attacking flair that was so prominent in the days of old, and if his threat is nullified, Dortmund run the risk of being toothless. With such a makeshift attack and midfield one cannot help but sense that Dortmund have probably come as far as they can in this year's competition, and the fact that they are facing a Real Madrid side who are current firing on all cylinders in the quarter finals makes everything infinitely worse.

My name is Akhilan and I am simply a 15 year old teenager from a little Asian country called Malaysia. I have grown up in quite a comfortable area, but for the past year or so, I have been struggling for an identity and a direction to ponder in the future. While other subjects in school totally bored me and left me with no inspiration, English called out to me and ever since I have been doing what I love, writing, public speaking, debating and so on, while still juggling schoolwork. I hope I can share some of my writing on this platform as well and I am very grateful for this opportunity.
