Chelsea: 4 Reasons David Moyes Is Perfect To Replace Rafa

2. He Is Universally Respected

More often than not, Roman Abramovich will appoint a manager or dismiss a manager without thinking about the feelings of the supporters of the club, or at least that's how it feels from outside. It was Abramovich after all who sacked fan favourite Chelsea legend Roberto Di Matteo after he had won the Champions League and FA Cup and replaced him with Rafael Benitez, who is extremely unpopular with the Chelsea faithful. Not the wisest move and I think he is starting to realise that the fans are important too. With David Moyes, he would not have this problem: the Everton manager is universally respected throughout English and European football for the work he has done at Everton and the Chelsea fans who are true fans of football should have no problem in accepting him as an excellent choice. Even some Liverpool fans respect him, which says enough about the manager's quality, but if you need quantification, we can do that as well. He is a three time LMA Manager Of The Year, an award voted for by fellow bosses, nine time Premier League Manager of the Month and has guided Everton to European qualification on four occasions. Nothing to be sniffed at. More importantly the players will respect him and recognise him as a first class manager to work for, unlike Benitez who the likes of John Terry and Ashley Cole allegedly did not warm to straight away and we all know how important it is for a manager to get his whole squad on side, especially at a club like Chelsea, where success is expected.
