Chelsea Transfer News: Bayer Leverkusen Open To Andre Schurrle Bid

ITV.com. Chelsea are said to be interested in the German international and had a bid for the star, believed to have been in the region of £21 million, rejected last year. However, the Bundesliga side are now prepared to listen to offers with the view of bringing Chelsea's left full-back Kevin De Bruyne the other way. Leverkusen director of sport Rudi Voller said the club would assess any offer for Schurrle "on merit" and refused to rule out a sale this summer. He told reporters after his side's 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg yesterday:

"It's totally normal for there to be enquiries for such a great player, even from London, and that's part of the business."
Leverkusen are believed to be interested in De Bruyne, and have been impressed by him during his stint in Germany while on loan with Werder Bremen. The Belgian international, 21, looks likely to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer and according to reports in Germany, the Bundesliga club may consider a swap deal which would see Schurrle join the Blues. Schurrle is contracted with Leverkusen until 2016, but if an agreement can be reached that suits both parties, could become one of Chelsea's first summer signings as the reigning European Champions look to rebuild ahead of the new season.
