Chelsea Transfer News: Debuchy Heading To Blues After Newcastle Bid Fails?

Chelsea are now looking poised to commandeer Newcastle’s half-made deal and are supposedly willing to foot the extra £2 million bill that the Toon are refusing to pay.

Chelsea are on high alert as Matheiu Debuchy€™s transfer to Newcastle looks set to fail. The Magpies are ready to drop their attempts to bring the Lille full-back to the North East over a failure to agree a transfer fee with the French club for his services. Crunchsports reports that Chelsea may just bag the French international star from right beneath their noses. Both clubs have reportedly placed signing a new right-back as a top priority this summer but Newcastle had previously looked as though they€™ve won the bid for Debuchy after the Lille player was purportedly swayed to his decision by fellow Les Bleus player and close friend Yohan Cabaye. Recent reports however claim that Newcastle boss Alan Parder is struggling to come to an amicable agreement in terms of a proposed fee with Lille; the Ligue 1 side are holding out for their £8 million asking price but Newcastle are unwilling to go higher that £6 million. Lille have already secured a replacement in preparation for the transfer in Troyes star Djibril Sidibe but are adamant that Newcastle have undervalued Debuchy. Chelsea are now looking poised to commandeer Newcastle€™s half-made deal and are supposedly willing to foot the extra £2 million bill that the Toon are refusing to pay. Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo has been looking for a full-back after recently releasing Jose Bosingwa. If the Debuchy deal falls through for Newcastle they€™ll consider signing Ajax flyer Gregory van der Wiel or amusingly named Marseille utility man Rod Fanni. The ace right back starred for France at Euro 2012 and has apparently told Newcastle officials he€™s doing everything in his power to force the transfer through.
