Chelsea Transfer News: Juan Mata To Paris Saint-Germain?

Juan Mata Juan Mata could be heading to France after Paris Saint-Germain opened talks with the Chelsea midfielder, according to L'Equipe. The 25-year-old has cut an increasingly marginalised figure at Stamford Bridge this summer and has only started one game for the Blues this season. The Spain international has been dropped for key clashes under new manager Jose Mourinho, such as the Premier League game against Manchester United last Monday as well as the Uefa Super Cup encounter with Bayern Munich four days later. And Mata could now be deemed surplus to requirements in West London following the recent acquisitions of Marco van Ginkel, Willian and Christian Atsu. L'Equipe go on to claim 24-year-old attacking midfielder Javier Pastore could be sold to make way for the Chelsea star, after Pastore was jeered by PSG fans during the 2-0 win over Guingamp at the weekend. The French champions are reportedly looking for an attacking midfielder capable of playing wide, a role the versatile Mata is familiar with. And, if his future no longer lies with Chelsea, the former Valencia man could be on the move just two seasons after moving to England from Spain. Mata was one of Chelsea's stand-out performers last season, scoring 12 Premier League goals, but rumours of a rift between him and Mourinho has led to speculation over a move.
