Chelsea Transfers: 10 Players Screwed By Blues' Ludicrous Transfer Policies
4. Marco Van Ginkel
Marco van Ginkel has only had one season with Chelsea so far and spent the most part of it out injured with a cruciate ligament injury, though having avoided the dreaded 'loan out,' he could see the next campaign as his true opportunity to break through and shine in blue. However, with Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic arriving so far in 2014, and with competition against the likes of Ramires, Oscar and John Obi Mikel for the remaining central midfield roles, the Dutch youngster will have to prove himself quickly to give himself the best chance of not being forgotten about. Van Ginkel was voted the best player under the age of 21 in the Netherlands two seasons ago, but he will be hoping that he can establish himself some playing time in the next few months if he is kept on at Chelsea, to prove himself in England too. Ajax attempted to sign the player from Vitesse before his move to Chelsea, but current Director of Football at the Dutch champions Marc Overmars spoke of his concern after the move was confirmed. Overmars outlined his worry that van Ginkel's career could stall as he tries to break through at the Bridge - and as it turns out so far, the former Arsenal winger has been right.
