Chelsea Transfers: 10 Possible January Deals

6. Andre Schurrle OUT

Even with a World Cup winners medal dangling around his neck, Andre Schurrle still hasn't fully convinced Jose Mourinho nor the Chelsea fans he's capable of leading the west London club to European dominance. Given his form for Joachim Low with the national team, it's something of a mystery that Schurrle has so far failed to bring his best football to the Bridge. The 24-year-old came up trumps at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where he notched three goals and as many assists in 245 minutes. Rumour has it Chelsea are willing to offer Schurrle to Jurgen Klopp as part of a swap deal to lure Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund, while other clubs including Liverpool and Tottenham are prepared to cough up as much as £25million to land the jet-heeled winger. However, despite rampant speculation he's destined for the exit door this January, German football expert Rafael Honigstein insists Schurrle is still part of the Chelsea boss' future plans.

"I think it's almost a good sign that Mourinho keeps talking about him, saying he needs to play better, because as long as Mourinho says these things about you, you think you have a good chance," he told talkSPORT.

"Remember how he always used to criticise Eden Hazard?

"I think it's when it goes very quiet, that's when you know you're on your way out.

"So I still think he's got a great future and if he gets fit, and performs like he did at the World Cup, where he played at the highest level, then he can still grow as a player."

Mourinho would be wise to add a few million to the alleged £25million price tag circulating media reports, particularly if Premier League rivals in Liverpool and Spurs come calling. Anything less wouldn't be worth losing an undoubtedly promising player.
