Chelsea Transfers: 5 Better Striking Options Than Samuel Eto'o

4. Robert Lewandowski

Chelsea could be set to reignite their pursuit of the Borussia Dortmund attacker if they can't land Manchester United's Wayne Rooney this summer, according to a report in today's Mirror. Lewandowski, who has also been strongly linked with a move to United, enjoyed a goal-laded campaign last season that saw him net 24 times in 31 Bundesliga appearances and 10 in 13 Champions League outings as he fired Dortmund to the final. And that has put the Pole on the radar of a number of the continent's top clubs - in particular Bayern Munich, who appear favourites to land the 24-year-old. However, Chelsea could yet scupper Bayern's plans by swooping for Lewandowski right under their noses and the Blues are confident Dortmund will sell for £40 million. The alternative is losing the striker - who is into the final year of his contract - on a free next season to one of their fiercest domestic rivals. Selling to Chelsea could therefore be a more preferable option.
