Chelsea Transfers: 5 Better Striking Options Than Samuel Eto'o

5. Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema Karim Benzema is a long-term target for Chelsea, which dates back to 2010 back when Jose Mourinho was manager at Real Madrid. Then, Mourinho offered the Blues Benzema in a bid to lure Ashley Cole to the Bernabeu, but nothing came of it. And now, with the 'Special One' back in West London, he could make an attempt to be reunited with his former charge. The duo spent three seasons together in the Spanish capital where they won La Liga, though were rumoured to have fallen out during a fairly tumultuous tenure for Mourinho at Real, which saw him make more friends than enemies. It remains to be seen if the two could ever work together again but if Mourinho can patch up his differences with Roman Abramovich, the idea of him making up with Benzema and offering him a fresh challenge in England cannot be ruled out. Benzema scored 11 La Liga goals in 30 appearances last season and may be deemed surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu this summer if Real sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham.
