Chelsea Transfers: 5 Cheaper Alternatives Than Radamel Falcao

1. Robert Lewandowski

Here is the lowdown: a goal record for the current German champions of over one goal every two games; his refusal to extend his current deal at Dortmund; he is 24 years old. What is there that Chelsea, or anybody for that matter, could find a reason to turn down? Proven in what is one of the highest quality, best run and most competitive leagues in Europe, this season has seen the prolific Pole spearhead his club's run through to the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions' League and to maintain what is now only one of three unbeaten records in the tournament this season. Unlike some of the other options, Lewandowski is widely thought of as a proven, world class striker who would walk into any football team in the world and not look out of place, and I personally believe that, within the next year or so, we will see the Polish international join one of the biggest sides in the Premier League, and the fact his contract is up next summer means that, either this summer or next, he will become available at a discounted rate, or even for free.
