Chelsea Transfers - 5 Flops Jose Mourinho Has To Ditch This Summer

5. Ryan Bertrand

Left-back Ryan Bertrand faces a pivotal moment in his club future this summer following eight years of failing to make the grade for Chelsea. After emerging from the club's youth academy in 2006, Bertrand has made just 28 appearances for the Blues and has been loaned out more times than a DVD rental. The 24-year-old has been shipped off no fewer than six times so far, spending temporary spells at Bournemouth, Oldham, Norwich, Reading, Nottingham Forest and, more recently, Aston Villa. And now is the time for Chelsea to decide if they are to keep hold of the fullback and give him a proper run in the team, or cash in. With Ashley Cole set to leave the club this summer, you might think there is an opportunity for Bertrand to finally establish himself as the club's No.1 left-back, but given the form of César Azpilicueta of late, that hardly seems likely. Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a move for Chelsea's forgotten defender and Bertrand's time in west London could finally be up.
