Chelsea Transfers: 5 Players Conte Still Needs To Get Rid Of
2. Pedro
Chelsea might have won the battle with Manchester United in trumping them for the signature of Pedro last summer, but ultimately they probably lost the war with the Red Devils ending up with the Blues’ most successful manager of all time. Oh, and the fact that the Spanish winger ended up being about as much use as a chocolate teapot.
Despite a strong showing on his debut at the Hawthorns, Pedro’s decline in London was rapid. Having spent his entire professional career nurtured in the Barcelona set-up, he looked unsure of his unfamiliar surroundings as his diagonal passes were met not by Lionel Messi or Neymar, but by the more static Diego Costa.
Eight goals from 40 appearances was certainly not a good return for the £21.4 million forward, especially considering he was just one shy of a centenary of strikes for Barcelona.
He has taken to the media to whine, first about how ‘difficult’ it was to accept life on the bench for Spain at Euro 2016 and then how he would rather return to Barcelona.
With the triumvirate of Messi, Neymar and Suarez in sparkling form, that seems to be an oxymoron in itself. Anyhow, considering his ineffectiveness at Stamford Bridge thus far, he would be no great loss.
