Despite this being a piece on why Chelsea need to add to their attacking options in January, hopefully I have been able to show that there is plenty of positive things about the Blues this season. In many ways, its a remarkable achievement that they have stayed so close to Arsenal and Man City despite their inferior attacking performances. However, as I have said, there is plenty of attacking potential in this team, and their strong defensive record is always going to put them in a good place. Chelsea have picked up four wins from their last five games, which includes the satisfaction of beating title rivals Liverpool. Overall, only Man City have enjoyed better recent form than that. So, everything is really there for the Blues to make a strong challenge for the title this season. The problem is that you can look at a team like Man City and feel they have the squad to the win the league; you cant yet say the same about Chelsea. Therefore, its down to them to see if they can readdress the balance in this transfer period.
