Ba On Friday, Demba Ba completed his move from St James' Park to Stamford Bridge for an undisclosed fee speculated to be between £7.5 million and £12.5 million, putting pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year deal. The Senegalese striker is the third highest goalscorer in the Premier League so far this season, and Newcastle United's current higest scorer, much as he was last season. The former West Ham man has banged in 13 goals so far this term, which accounts for almost half of the Magpies current goalscoring tally this season. Manager Alan Pardew made attempts to tie the player down to a new deal at Newcastle, but the 28-year old's head was ultimately turned by the lure of playing for the European Champions. Today marks his debut for his new club as he was selected by Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez to start against Southampton in the third round of the FA Cup, being paired alongside Hazard with Torres, perhaps ominously, dropping to the bench.
