Chelsea and Liverpool are set to lock horns this summer in the race to sign the highly-rated Turkish international, according to a recent report in the
Metro. The Galatasaray forward was in unstoppable form last season, and netted 24 times in 30 appearances, helping to establish himself as one of European football's most coveted stars. The 28-year-old was in even finer form the season prior, when he bagged 33 goals in an amazing 34 appearances for Trabzonspor. Chelsea have a distinct advantage in the race for Yilmaz as they, unlike Liverpool, can offer Champions League football next season. And Galatasaray have even admitted they'd be willing to sell their prized asset in spite of the fact they only bought him last summer - but only for the right price. Gala president Unal Aysal recently stated:
"We have set a price for Burak Yilmaz. We will only consider an offer which is in the best interests of the club and player. "If Burak wants to leave and our transfer demands are matched, we could accept a deal."
