With Juan Mata set to complete his move to Manchester United later today, you cannot help but get the feeling Wayne Rooney is secretly involved in the deal somewhere along the line. Chelsea's agreeing of United's offer for Mata seemed to happen far too swiftly and for a club who doesn't have to sell this month, that rings alarm bells. Perhaps the Blues got something even better than the £37 million out of Mata's transfer - an agreement that Wayne Rooney will be sold to the Londoners later this summer. This wouldn't be the first time Mata-Rooney swap speculation has done the rounds, there was talk of it happening last August when Chelsea first showed an interest in Rooney. Chelsea's willingness to give United Mata could be a sweetener for Rooney's move to Stamford Bridge to go through at the end of the season - time shall tell.
