Chelsea Transfers: 5 Strikers Jose Mourinho Must Sign Now Neymar Is Unavailable

4. Wayne Rooney

Unhappy Manchester United star Wayne Rooney emerged as a surprise transfer target for Chelsea earlier this month following the complete deterioration of his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson and subsequent uncertain future at Old Trafford. Blues' owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly prepared to pay over £30 million for the want-away 27-year old, who has apparently asked to leave United for the second time in three years. With just two years remaining on his contract, the Reds are under pressure to either tie him down to a new deal or sell while they can still command a high transfer fee, and if they opt with the latter, one of the most remarkable transfers in British football could come off with the England international moving to United's fierce domestic rivals. As previously mentioned, Chelsea have lacked a physically strong striker who can dominate defenders ever since Didier Drogba left and Rooney would be a terrific buy in those regards.
