Plan B - Samuel Eto'o
The former Barcelona and Inter Milan star
emerged as a shock alternative to Wayne Rooney earlier this month back when it first became apparent that United weren't interested in selling. Now plying his trade at Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala, the 32-year-old has been put up for sale due to the Russian's recent financial plights that has forced them into slashing their towering wage bill. The Cameroon international should be available
for around £5 million, considering his age, though that still represents a good deal taking into account he scored 10 league goals in 25 appearances last season. The former UEFA Club Forward of the Year knows Mourinho well given that he spent time playing under the Portuguese's stewardship during their time together at Inter Milan, where they won the Champions League in 2010. And Eto'o could jump at the chance to play for the charismatic coach again if provided the opportunity. He has however been linked with a shock move to Manchester United instead this week.
