Aside from having a face you want to punch, Dennis Wise was not a likable character. It was once said that the former Chelsea man could start a fight in an empty house and his playing career was littered with a series of controversies. In 1999, long before the days of Luis Suarez, the midfielder appeared to bite defender Marcelino during Chelsea's second leg clash with Mallorca in the Cup Winners' Cup semi-finals. He got away with the incident but there were many more controversies. In 1995, he assaulted an elderly taxi driver and was handed a prison sentence at the time, but he had the conviction overturned on appeal. His stay at Chelsea was brief - he lasted just two seasons - and when he was sold to Leicester City he created yet more outrage when he was sent home from the club's pre-season tour of Finland after breaking the nose and jaw of team-mate Callum Davidson in an argument, and was later sacked for misconduct, and behaviour such as this will ensure Wise will always be remembered by fans as something of a scumbag.
