Chelsea's 10 Most Hated Players

2. John Terry

Where do you even start with John Terry? The racism? Sleeping with his teammate's girlfriend? Or how about the fact he wore full kit to lift the 2012 Champions League trophy despite being banned from the final? We'll start with the racism. In September 2012, Terry was banned for four matches and fined £220,000 by the FA for racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand, after being found guilty of calling Ferdinand a "f***ing black c**t". Two years prior, in 2010, a super-injunction was imposed by a high court judge from preventing media from reporting on allegations that Terry had had an affair with England teammate Wayne Bridge's girlfriend, Vanessa Perroncel in 2009, however the injunction was soon lifted and Terry exposed. And, following the racism storm in 2012, Terry was again in the headlines for all the wrong reasons when, during Chelsea's Champions League celebrations, he donned full kit to lift the trophy alongside Frank Lampard despite being banned from the final, spawning a series of internet memes and earning himself widespread humiliation. Whichever controversy you wish to use as a stick to beat Terry with, it doesn't matter - he will always be remembered as one of Chelsea's most reviled and mocked players, and it's all of his own making.
