Crystal Palace Transfer News: Andy Johnson To Rejoin Eagles?

Screen Shot 2013 09 02 At 22 44 40 Crystal Palace are hoping to continue their run as the Premier League's busiest club in this transfer window by signing old boy Andy Johnson from QPR, according to the club chairman. Johnson notched 21 goals in 37 appearances for the Eagles during their one-year stint in the Premier League but couldn't keep Palace from the relegation trap door. And speaking to Radio Five Live, chairman Steve Parish confirmed that the club had made a bid for the club's top scorer during their previous Premier League season in 04/05 before announcing that deal might not be the end of their window. Parish said:
"We have made a bid for Andy Johnson we are waiting to hear, that would be a permanent deal. We are trying to get someone else in on loan and we are trying to buy another one as well."
The news will be music to the ears of the Selhurst Park faithful - with Wilfred Zaha leaving for Manchester United, last season's top scorer Glenn Murray out for most of the season and club record signing Dwight Gayle untested at this level, the cupboard was looking bare at Selhurst Park. But while Palace do have strikers with Premier League experience in the inconsistent Marouane Chamakh and 40-year-old Kevin Phillips, the potential introduction of a proven Premier League goalscorer in Johnson could aid Palace's prospects for survival.
