Aston Villa Next Manager: 8 Reasons Why Gary Neville Could Transform The Club

6. Will Attract Players

As it stands, Villa are not seen as an attractive option for players seeking a new club, whether that be to advance their career or because they have been made surplus to requirements by their current employers. That was evident as Garde failed to sign anyone during the January transfer window. As highlighted in our previous point, Villa require a manager who their current players will want to play under but the same applies when Villa come to try to sign players in the summer. They may have some success in trying to poach some highly-rated talent from the Football League but is that going to be enough to regain their place in the Premier League, should their relegation be confirmed in the coming weeks? Neville would act as a huge selling point. Not only would the younger generation want to work with him, he could also call upon some experienced heads who can be equally influential both on and off the pitch. He could also potentially target players who represent England at Under-19 and Under-21 level after his role within the senior setup. Villa need to implement significant changes both on and off the pitch and the arrival of Neville could act as the catalyst for that to materialise on both a short-term and long-term basis.
