Euro 2012: England vs Ukraine - Live on ITV1

England need just a point to be sure of qualification as Group D comes to a head and so brings to an end the group stages of Euro 2012.

Donbass Arena, Donetsk Date Tuesday 19th June Kick-off 19:45 England need just a point to be sure of qualification as Group D comes to a head and so brings to an end the group stages of Euro 2012. Roy Hodgson and his team though will be hoping for a little bit more than that - they need to pick up 3 points to avoid a tricky encounter with European Champions Spain in the quarter finals. Winning the group will set up a more favourable fixture with Italy. They will be hoping Wayne Rooney will inspire them to do just that - he has now completed his two match ban. He is expected to start up front with Danny Welbeck, with Andy Carroll set to warm the bench. The duo formed a formidable strike force for Manchester United last season. Roy Hodgson must also decide whether to start with Theo Walcott, who scored a crucial equalizer and then set up England's winner against Sweden. Though he suffered a slight hamstring problem, he is expected to get the nod over James Milner, with Ashley Young occupying the right wing. Steven Garrard and Scott Parker will patrol the centre of midfield. The Ukraine simply have to win to qualify, though may have to do so without record goalscorer, team captain and instrumental talisman Andriy Shevchenko, who is reportedly 50-50 to play after sustaining a knee injury in his sides win over Sweden. Though he played in the 2-0 defeat to France, he missed training yesterday. Team doctor Leonid Myronov commented:

"I think that Andriy, with all his desire to prove to the country and the whole world that he is a real professional, will do his best to play."
Head to Head The sides have only met four times. England won the first three meetings scoring seven goals and conceding just once in the process. The last time these sides met came in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup, when Ukraine prevailed 1-0 in Dnipropetrovsk courtesy of a Serhiy Nazarenko goal. Did you know? Against Sweden, all three of England's scorers were aged 24 or younger. The last time three players that young all scored for the Three Lions was in the 6-1 win versus Iceland in 2004. Andriy Shevchenko is both the youngest and oldest goalscorer in Ukraine's history - his first goal came aged just 19 against Turkey in 1996. Against Sweden, he became the oldest player to score twice in a single World Cup or European Championship match since Roger Milla's brace versus Cameroon at the 1990 World Cup.
